We have some sad breaking news to report. According to journalist Marc Antoine Godin of Radio-Canada, the Montreal Canadiens have reportedly decided to part ways with Quebec-born forward Rafaël Harvey-Pinard.
It was surely not an easy decision for Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton, but it’s the one they made.
It Would Be Over for Rafaël Harvey-Pinard with the Montreal Canadiens
Management has reportedly decided not to extend him a qualifying offer.
The confirmation is expected within the next few minutes.
It’s heartbreaking, because RHP is such a good person and such an exemplary athlete, and his NHL career had started so well, but injuries seem to have completely derailed everything.
Rafaël Harvey-Pinard will test the free agent market on July 1st (tomorrow).

Let’s truly hope that another NHL team is willing to give him a new opportunity.
He can still be very proud of what he accomplished within the Montreal Canadiens organization.
Harvey-Pinard, 26 years old, was a 7th-round pick of the Canadiens in 2019.
He tallied 19 points in 40 games this season with the Laval Rocket, along with 3 points in 13 playoff games.
Once again, we sincerely wish him the very best for the rest of his career.
We won’t soon forget our “Lavallagher.”
