SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — he Utah Mammoth have made a significant move to bolster their future by selecting center Caleb Desnoyers with the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft held Friday night in Los Angeles.

Utah golf star Tony Finau took the stage from Salt Lake City to announce the Mammoth’s pick, adding a hometown touch to the franchise’s big draft moment.

Desnoyers, 18, is a dynamic forward from the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 172 pounds, he is known for his exceptional hockey IQ, playmaking abilities, and strong two-way game. Over the past two seasons with the Wildcats, Desnoyers has accumulated 140 points (55 goals, 85 assists) in 116 games, showcasing his offensive prowess and consistency.

In the 2024–25 season, Desnoyers led the Wildcats to a QMJHL championship, recording 84 points (35 goals, 49 assists) in 56 regular-season games. He further demonstrated his clutch performance in the postseason, earning the Guy Lafleur Trophy as the playoffs’ Most Valuable Player after tallying 30 points (9 goals, 21 assists) in 19 games .

Desnoyers’ accolades also include multiple gold medals with Team Canada at the U17, U18, and Hlinka Gretzky Cup tournaments, underscoring his international experience and leadership qualities .
