It’s been quite a busy summer for former members of the Vancouver Canucks organization as some have been able to find new homes here in North America, either in the NHL or AHL, while some have turned their attention towards Europe for the next chapter of their career.

In a press release on their official website this morning, Brynas IF, a club in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) announced that they’ve agreed to terms on a one-year contract with former Vancouver Canucks goaltender Collin Delia.Note: the quotes in this story are translated from Swedish.

“31-year-old American goalie Collin Delia is ready for Brynäs IF. Collin, who most recently came from playing in the Edmonton Oilers organization, has signed a one-year contract that extends through the upcoming season, 25/26.” the club said.

Delia, a native of Rancho Cucamonga, California, has spent the majority of his professional hockey career in the AHL, however he’s made 52 appearances in the National Hockey League, 20 of which came with the Vancouver Canucks during the 2022-23 campaign.

In 20 games with the Vancouver Canucks, Delia had a record of 10-6-4, along with a 3.28 goals against average, an .882 save percentage and even registered an assist.

“My family and I are incredibly happy to have this opportunity to represent such a prestigious club as Brynäs IF. The passionate supporters combined with the proud history that the club possesses made our decision easy. I am looking forward to the season and I want to contribute to us going all the way and winning Swedish Championship gold.” Delia said.

Brynas IF’s roster is looking pretty good heading into the 2025-26 season with a number of notable names to fans in North America including Jakob Silfverberg, Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, Michal Kempny, Robert Hagg, Mattias Norlinder and Christian Djoos.

As things stand right now, Collin Delia will more than likely begin the season as Brynas IF’s starting goaltender with the team’s other netminder, Erik Kallgren, out until early in 2026 with a hip injury.

Delia and Brynas IF will begin their 2025-26 Swedish Hockey League season on Saturday, September 13th as they take on Vaxjo Lakers HC.
