The team is in the middle of a rebuild but they still have star Sidney Crosby on the roster as well. This has seen the front office try to navigate both the future, while also looking to remain competitive.

But the team has also been looking into trading some of the bigger names on the team. This incoudes star wing Rickard Rakell, who many teams have shown real interest in.

While there have been all sorts of rumors around Rakell, it could take a lot for the team to move him. According to NHL insider Chris Johnston, the price for Rakell in any deal is very high.

This is likely due to the fact that Pittsburgh doesn’t want to trade him. However, doing so could benefit the organization in the future, depending on the return for the star.

Rakell scored 35 goals and 35 assists for the Penguins last season. The veteran is still very productive, and he has fit in nicely alongside the other players on the team.

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Rakell would prefer to remain in Pittsburgh amid all of the trade rumors. Obviously, the Penguins’ front office will have final say in this, but this could also impact trade discussions.

All in all, it seems that Rakell may end up staying in Pittsburgh, at least for now. But the Penguins continue to hold trade talks and everything with them remains fluid on that front.
