Vancouver Canucks superfan and five-time Grammy Award winner Michael Buble took to social media recently to respond to trade rumors regarding Quinn Hughes.With one year until he’s eligible to sign a contract extension and two years until he can walk to unrestricted free agency, trade rumors have been circulating about Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes.Ideally, the Vancouver Canucks would like to keep Quinn Hughes for the rest of his career in the National Hockey League, but as Jim Rutherford mentioned at the end of the season, it might not come down to money or term with their captain, as he’s expressed a desire to play with his brothers Jack and Luke at some point in his career.

“It may not boil down to money with [Quinn]. He said before he wants to play with his brothers. That would be partly out of our control. In our control if we brought his brothers here.” Rutherford said.

As the offseason continues, trade rumors haven’t slowed down pertaining the Vancouver Canucks captain and it feels like we’ll be hearing about it quite a bit over the next couple of seasons until one of the following three scenarios happens:

A) He’s actually traded by the Vancouver Canucks;
B) He signs a long-term extension with the Vancouver Canucks;
C) He leaves the Vancouver Canucks as an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, 2027.

Obviously, scenario A isn’t something that the Vancouver Canucks want to do, but Rutherford has admitted it’s a possibility and it’s something they may have to deal with closer to the deadline during the 2026-27 season, if Quinn Hughes is not signed to an extension.

“We control him for a year and two-thirds because if we get to that trade deadline two years from now and it looks like he doesn’t want to stay, then we would have to do something.” Rutherford said.

In a recent social media post which highlighted a tweet about a Quinn Hughes trade rumors, Vancouver Canucks superfan & five-time Grammy Award winner Michael Buble shared his feelings about the topic.

“lol. Shut up.” Buble said in a comment on Instagram.

Buble’s feelings about the trade rumors will certainly resonate with every single fan of the Canucks as no one wants them to move on from Quinn Hughes as the 25-year-old is easily the best defenseman and can be considered at least a top-five player in franchise history.
