The crew will produce 39 more games over the air on Utah 16, direct to consumer on UtahHC+

The newest squad in the National Hockey League, the Utah Hockey Club, will host their first home game of the new year this evening against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers. This game will be a nationally televised affair on TNT, but a massive chunk of broadcasts in their inaugural season have been produced over the air on Utah 16 and through SEG Media’s direct-to-consumer platform, UtahHC+. Director Paul Hemming, an individual who’s been directing NHL games for over 25 years at the local and national level, is responsible for educating new supporters to this first-year organization as well as entertaining the most seasoned of hockey fans.

In this in-depth interview, the longtime industry veteran outlines where the franchise was in the planning process when he first joined the team, how the infrastructure of Jazz+ helps his broadcasts, how he balances elements for first-time and longtime viewers in Salt Lake City and beyond, how his previous work with NHL on TNT impacts his directing style, offers pieces of advice for someone who is in his position or may be in the future, and much more.
