Vancouver Canucks unlikely to acquire Bowen Byram from the Buffalo Sabres
Going back to last season, there has been constant rumors that the Canucks were pushing to make a big trade for Bowen Byram as a solution to some issues on defense.
But, a recent update basically confirmed that the ship has sailed and they missed their shot.
NHL insider David Pagnotta revealed that the rumblings about Byram and the
Canucks were more “serious” during the 2024-25 season, but as of June, there has not really been any real talks or advancements made.
«So, with the Canucks, I think it was real more so in the season than it was this past June,» Pagnotta said. «But honestly, for me, it would probably be something coming out of left field once all is said and done if something does happen with the Canucks.» – David Pagnotta
With all the speculation around the star d-man, Sabres manager Kevyn Adams opened up to state they are not openly shopping him, but did acknowledge a trade is not out of the question if the right deal is presented.
«If there’s a deal out there that makes sense for us we’re open to it,» Adams said.
Although there still is a chance for the Vancouver Canucks to acquire Byram at some point this offseason, it appears that the Sabres are not really interested in what Patrik Allvin has to offer for him.
