A major accomplishment has been announced that gives Maple Leafs forward Max Domi and his father Tie Domi a spot in the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs history books.
Max and Tie Domi are now the first ever father-son duo ever in the league to score a game-winning goal for the same team, and against the same team in Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Tie Domi scored the overtime winner of game 5 of a first-round series against the Ottawa Senators on April 22, 2000, 25 years to the day before son Max scored his.
It’s a very cool accomplishment that both father and son get to enjoy together for a long time. Max Domi attempted to downplay how much his goal meant after being praised by teammate John Tavares for spending extra time with him and Leafs staffer Patrick O’Sullivan after practice recently. Despite that, he certainly endeared himself to fans after his OT goal after taking some criticism for not having scored since March 30.
