It’s been a few weeks since our last edition of the PhHN Daily. I figured it would be a good day to get back with the dailies, so here we go.
We’ve hit the beginning of the dead period in the offseason. The free agency frenzy has died down, rosters are taking shape, and for the Flyers, almost all of their cap is used up, and all of their free agents have been resigned.
Around the league, there are still plenty of RFA talents yet to put pen to paper, which could make things a bit interesting. However, it does not seem like the Flyers will be much in play.
In other news, a new top prospect rankings have been released, and the Flyers are looking pretty decent–still have work to do in the pipeline, but it’s starting to really improve. As always with the daily, we take a little trip around the league via our friends in the National Hockey Now Network and other news outlets.
So, enjoy the 7/14 edition of the PhHN Daily!

Have you begun to wonder what the Flyers’ lineup will look like on opening night? There is still plenty of offseason left for things to change, as well as camp. However, we took a stab at predicting the Flyers’ lineup on opening night.

National Hockey Now, NHL News, and Trade Rumors

Colorado Hockey Now: The Avalanche need a 3C, but where can they find one? Aarif Deen writes about seven potential trade targets for the Avs (+).
Islander Hockey Now: Around the Draft, Ilya Sorokin trade rumors began to run wild. Well, Russ Macias from New York Islanders Hockey Now is here to say enough is enough, and shut down the trade rumors around the star netminder.
Oh, and there is this:
Any report about the Oilers having interest in Carter Hart is incorrect.
Edmonton will not be approaching him, even if he is found not guilty. #NHL
— Jason Gregor (@JasonGregor) July 12, 2025
Rumors, not even sure of the source, began swirling that if ruled not guilty, the Edmonton Oilers would take a run at former Flyers goaltender Carter Hart. At this point, it seems as if Edmonton is unwilling to sign Hart no matter what.
