We’ve talked a lot about the signing of forward Joe Veleno, announced earlier this week by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.

According to several experts-and it’s pretty obvious logically-three names among the following forwards will be cut from the Canadiens’ opening night lineup:

So, it’s shaping up to be a battle between these five young forwards for just two spots in Martin St-Louis’ lineup.

And in your opinion, which two forwards among the names above will earn their spot on the Canadiens’ roster for the first game of the 2025-2026 season?

It’s true that players like Oliver Kapanen and Owen Beck, who can easily be sent down to the Laval Rocket (without having to go through NHL waivers), appear to be starting a bit behind in this race. But at the same time, Kent Hughes has never hesitated to put players on waivers to avoid blocking the development of younger talent.

Personally, I believe Blais and Veleno will be the two lucky ones to make the team, with quick call-ups likely for Beck and Kapanen. But of course, everything will be decided at camp.
