Welcome to our yearly Montreal Canadiens prospect rankings, a project that uses fan votes to set the tone for our prospect analysis that will span the next year or so.
Voting for the 2025 rankings hasn’t closed yet, but we’ve already received over five times as many submissions this year, which deserves a stick tap for all the supportive Habs fans who helped out.
Even as the team starts to gain ground on other organizations, Canadiens fans are keeping a close eye on the next wave of prospects, a testament to their fantastically obsessive dedication to The Church of St. Béliveau.

2024 Montreal Canadiens Prospect Retrospective
The top 10 last season spoke to Montreal’s impressive depth of talent at every position, with 2024 fifth-overall pick Ivan Demidov leading the charge. Given how well Lane Hutson played in his rookie season, a dominant campaign that led to a well-deserved Calder Trophy, you could argue that we may have gotten a little too intoxicated on the freshly drafted Demidov hype-cohol, and that Hutson deserved the top spot, but that’s looking for a nit to pick.
ON TOPIC: 2024 Canadiens Prospect Rankings – Ivan Demidov Is A Game ChangerÂ
Regardless of the final rankings, for the first time in a very long time, Canadiens fans could rest easy knowing they had two fantastic prospects with game-changing potential in the mix, not to mention a goaltender with starting potential in Jacob Fowler
Given that Joshua Roy had just completed a very encouraging rookie campaign, he managed to surpass David Reinbacher, Michael Hage, and Owen Beck, an outcome that’s unlikely to be repeated when we release the 2025 rankings.
The 2025 list will also see guaranteed movement in the bottom half of the top 10, with several defencemen no longer qualifying for the vote, including Logan Mailloux, Arber Xhekaj, Justin Barron, and Jayden Struble.
