Justin Glock is the new head coach for the North Allegheny hockey team.

After spending the past 10 years as the head hockey coach at Baldwin, Justin Glock is transitioning to the North Hills, taking over the North Allegheny program for this upcoming season.

He replaces Andrew Seiss, who was the bench boss for three years.

Glock brings 15 years of coaching experience to the table, hoping to repeat the success he had both as a player and coach in the hockey world.

Glock had extensive success as a player, winning three state hockey championships while at Bethel Park from 2000-02. He then went on to play one year at Ohio University before transferring to Pitt to get a bachelor’s degree in English writing.

When he was a skater at Bethel Park, he was named the 2002 Tribune-Review player of the year.

On the coaching side of things, he led Baldwin to the 2020 state title game, which eventually was canceled because of the pandemic. Once again, they were back in 2021, winning the state title this time around.

“I was super fortunate to have coached at Baldwin for the past 10 years,” Glock said. “Moving up to the North Hills a few years back made travel difficult, so I was lucky enough to get an interview for the North Allegheny position.”

Glock is hoping that some of the success he built with the Baldwin program can transition over to North Allegheny.

“My No. 1 goal when I start coaching is to improve upon what is already there,” Glock said. “They have been a great program for multiple years, and I’m hoping to help them get over the edge and win titles.”

North Allegheny went 13-9 this past season, falling to South Fayette, 4-2, in Penguins Cup Class 3A semifinals. In the 2022-23 season, NA made it all the way to the PIHL championship game, falling to Pine-Richland, 3-2. The Tigers made the playoffs every season under Seiss.

Glock hopes to rely on a strong rising senior class next season. He has multiple players back to lean on, including Ed Scherer, Joey Mitchell, Alex Costa, Noah Logan and Kyle Imm.

“We didn’t play North Allegheny last year, but we have faced off with them in the past,” Glock said. “It’s another one of my goals to get familiar with the team and all the players.”

North Allegheny competes in the 3A classification of the PIHL with the likes of Bethel Park, Canon-McMillan, Mt. Lebanon, Peters Township, Pine-Richland, Seneca Valley and Upper St. Clair.

The regular season for the PIHL will kick off at the end of September.
