After a rough result on Tuesday night, the Detroit Red Wings are hoping to get back on the winning track on Thursday night when they host the Utah Hockey Club for the first time.

The Red Wings offense was held at bay two days ago when they took on the Carolina Hurricanes, as Elmer Soderblom’s tally was Detroit’s only goal in a 2-1 defeat.
Despite falling to Carolina, and losing back-to-back games to the Blue Jackets, Detroit is still in the running to break their eight-season playoff drought. However, they have some tough games coming up, as they also travel to face the Washington Capitals on Friday night.
The Red Wings sit fifth in the Atlantic Division, sitting outside the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
In their first season in Salt Lake City, Utah, they are quietly staying in the hunt for the postseason out west. Currently, the franchise formerly known as the Arizona Coyotes is sixth in the Central Division, four points back of the last Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
Utah will be well-rested heading into Thursday night, as they will not have played since losing to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night.
