An NHL insider has given an update on Vancouver Canucks forward Filip Chytil, who had his season cut short due to an injury and now the team is hoping he can take on a big role this fall.Back in late-January, the Vancouver Canucks made a big splash on the trade market when when they dealt J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers and among the pieces they got in return was former first round pick Filip Chytil, who was in need of a fresh start.

Chytil had a lot of promise when he was drafted, with scouts projecting that his ceiling would be a top-six forward in the National Hockey League, however due to injuries – including multiple concussions, along with some inconsistent play, he never reached his full potential in The Big Apple.

Unfortunately, Chytil suffered another head injury in March when he was hit by former Vancouver Canucks forward Jason Dickinson and this past week, NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal gave an update on how the 25-year-old is doing.

NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal gives update on Vancouver Canucks’ Filip Chytil

During an appearance on The People’s Show on Sportsnet 650 radio, NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal shared some interesting news about several members of the Vancouver Canucks this summer, including Filip Chytil.

According to Dhaliwal, Filip Chytil has returned to 100 percent health, with his latest concussion, which was reportedly the fifth of his career, now in the past as we head deeper into the summer.

Dhaliwal also added that Filip Chytil is already training for the 2025-26 season, which could end up being a pretty big one for him, especially if the Vancouver Canucks aren’t able to add another centerman to the fold, after striking out a few times in free agency so far.

It’s great that Filip Chytil is back to full health this summer and it’s certainly going to be interesting see what role he plays for the Vancouver Canucks and new Head Coach Adam Foote next season, with the second line center position a possibility as things stand right now.

The Kromeriz, Czechia native played quite well for the Vancouver Canucks in his first month with the club, registering five points in eight games, including a goal in his debut against the Detroit Red Wings.

Hopefully, if Chytil stay healthy next season, he could provide the club with some secondary scoring that they lacked in a big way during the 2024-25 campaign.
