The Colorado Avalanche made a deal on Friday, trading away the once-promising youngster Oskar Olausson to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Danil Gushchin.
Olausson is somewhat of a bust for the Avs. He was taken 28th overall in the 2021 Draft and has only played in four NHL games.
Olausson, 22, primarily spent last year with the AHL’s Eagles, appearing in 61 games and tallying 26 points. His most notable moment after being drafted happened for Team Sweden in the World Junior Championships, where he helped his country finish with a Bronze Medal in 2022 after collecting five points in seven games.

Coming back to Denver is Gushchin. The 23-year-old cracked the opening night roster for the Sharks last season and spent 12 games with the big club. He was mostly in the AHL with the Barracuda, where he notched 51 points over 56 games.
The Russian has 18 NHL games in total, scoring five points. The former AHL All-Star finished top 10 in the OHL in goals during his final year of junior. He has represented his country on the international stage several times at the youth levels. Gushchin will likely be fighting for a fourth-line spot with the Avs, who desperately need some more forward depth.
