An NHL insider has given an update this week regarding the contract that Vancouver Canucks free agent target Jack Roslovic is seeking on the open market this summer.
We’re officially in the second full month of the National Hockey League’s offseason and while things have quieted down in a big way recently, the Vancouver Canucks are still hoping to make an addition to their roster.
It’s been known for quite a while now that Patrik Allvin and the Canucks would like to bring in another centerman and ever since the free agent market opened up back on Canada Day, the club has been linked to several players.
With failed attempts to land failed attempts to land Christian Dvorak and Mikael Granlund, who ended up in Philadelphia and Anaheim, respectively, the Vancouver Canucks quickly shifted their attention to Jack Roslovic, who remains the top free agent centerman available as of Friday, August 1st.
Insider gives update regarding the contract Jack Roslovic is seeking
Throughout the last week or so, there have been some updates when it comes to Vancouver’s pursuit of Jack Roslovic, including one from Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects, who said that while the Canucks have spoken with the player and his camp, he isn’t too sure if Patrik Allvin has made a competitive offer to the 28-year-old forward.”We know [the Canucks have] been in contact with Roslovic’s team, a good amount; there’s a handful of clubs that are kicking the tires on him.” Robinson said.
He added, “He was expecting this to take while; I’m not even 100% sure that [the Canucks have] put a solid offer in front of him yet”
While being interviewed by Sekeres and Price earlier this week, Robinson also shared some insight into the contract that Jack Roslovic and his camp are hoping to sign at some point before NHL training camps open next month.
According to Robinson, Jack Roslovic is seeking a three-year contract, whether that be from the Vancouver Canucks or any other team that is interested in bringing him on board.
“His camp is looking for ideally a three year deal” Robinson said.
A three-year term might be a bit too much for someone like the Vancouver Canucks, but it would all come down to the salary and after tying a career-high in goals last year with 22, the former first round pick is likely wanting more than the $2.8 million he earned annually on his last deal.
