With the lack of offseason moves by General Manager Patrik Allvin, the Vancouver Canucks are in a tight trade battle with the Montreal Canadiens Canadiens.
Ever since the Vancouver Canucks failed to re-sign Pius Suter and get a suitable replacement for J.T. Miller, the GM Allvin has made it clear to all NHL clubs that they are in desperate need of finding a second-line centre. The Canucks have been in the market for a centerman all summer long as they look to potentially add someone to play on the second line, giving them some more depth alongside Elias Pettersson, Filip Chytil and potentially Teddy Blueger, if the latter is not traded before the season begins

The main two names the Nucks have been linked to all summer long have been top UFA Jack Rosllovic and Minnesota Wild trade bait Marco Rossi.
If it’s not him…I know they were trying to get Marco Rossi too; maybe there is an opportunity to circle back” Robinson said.
Because of this, Patrik Allvina and the Canucks are now direct competitors with the Montreal Canadiens, who are also in the market for a new second-liner down the middle.

With the two teams fighting for the top remaining names, it will only drive up the price for them, but it is what needs to happen if the Canucks and Canadiens want to compete next season.
