DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado Avalanche will be back on the ice soon, with the puck dropping at Ball Arena in early October.

On Wednesday, the National Hockey League announced the 2025-26 season schedule, with the Avs set to play their first game on the road on Oct. 7 against the Los Angeles Kings. However, Avs Country won’t have to wait long for the team to hit the rink at Ball Arena.

The Avs home opener is two days later, on Oct. 9, against the newly-branded Utah Mammoth, marking the start of many notable games at Ball Arena this upcoming season.

Notable Avs games in the 2025-26 season

The Avs said some of the notable games include facing their first-round opponent, the Dallas Stars, twice on home ice, and the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers at Ball Arena.

Here are some of the most notable games:

Florida Panthers on Dec. 11 at Ball Arena

Tampa Bay Lightning on Nov. 4 at Ball Arena

Montreal Canadiens on Nov. 29 at Ball Arena

Winnipeg Jets on Dec. 19 and March 28 at Ball Arena

Dallas Stars on Oct. 11 and March 18 at Ball Arena

The Avs will play 26 games against their Central Division opponents, 24 games against the Pacific Division and 32 games against the Eastern Conference. Lucky for Avs Country, a lot of these will be on home ice, with Colorado scoring seven back-to-back home games in January.

There are several back-to-back games over the season, however, there won’t be much to see in February, as there will be a 20-day pause for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina, Italy. But of those five games in February, four of them will be at home.

The Avs will be back in March, with their busiest season, with 15 games.

The Avs end their regular season with another home game on April 16 against the Seattle Kraken.
