Connor McDavid contract negotiations delayed again with another personal event

The Edmonton Oilers’ biggest piece of offseason business will be re-signing Connor McDavid to a contract extension, but they’ll have to wait longer to get started. I would think that maybe things (on a new Edmonton deal) might get percolating a bit, maybe after Leon Draisaitl‘s wedding in the first weekend of August.

The wedding has now wrapped up, but now there’s another big event for McDavid that will hold up negotiations – a shared honeymoon for the Oilers superstars.

Draisaitl’s wife Celeste Desjardins shared a photo kicking off the newlywed’s honeymoon but also tagged Connor McDavid and Lauren Kyle, revealing that both couples will embark on a shared honeymoon.
It’s truly incredible just how close the two Oilers superstars are off the ice.
If Connor McDavid is willing to share a honeymoon with Leon Draisaitl, it’s probably a close enough friendship that will keep them both in Edmonton for their whole careers. Overall, the wedding looked to be a wild event.
The vacation will also put another hold on any contract talks between Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers, and fans are beginning to get anxious.
However, Leon Draisaitl didn’t sign his contract until late September, and insiders still have full confidence McDavid will be signing in Edmonton – it’ll just be a little while longer until the official announcement.
