On July 1st, the Montreal Canadiens announced the acquisition of 29-year-old forward Samuel Blais via the free agent market.

Most experts assumed that Blais was signed simply to help the Laval Rocket, but not so fast!

Blais has just issued an interesting warning to everyone who already sees him returning to Laval.

Samuel Blais will arrive at Canadiens training camp with the firm intention of earning a spot in Montreal, in the NHL

Blais, who signed a one-year contract worth $775,000 as a free agent, seems fed up with the American Hockey League.

“I’m going to be honest, it’s not fun to play in the American League, but it did me some good.

It helped me regain my confidence and I hope it continues like that.”

Blais has even already had a discussion with head coach Martin St-Louis to talk about his possible role in Montreal.

Here’s another story that will be very interesting to follow at camp.

Personally, I absolutely believe that Blais has the skills to be an excellent fourth-line player in Montreal, and possibly even eventually a third-line player.

Samuel Blais, 29, is a 6-foot-2, 206-pound forward who has collected 71 points in 257 career NHL games and has played in 27 NHL playoff games.

In 2022-23 with the Blues, he recorded 20 points in 31 games. Last season in the AHL, he posted 40 points in 51 games.
