Brandt Clarke has a very bright future ahead, but after recent comments from Michael Russo, speculation over that future in Los Angeles has begun.
The Los Angeles Kings have a very bright future ahead, but with some key veterans getting towards the end of their career, the team may be looking to push their chips in to chase a Stanley Cup in the near future.
They took a step forward in 2024/25 but once again ran into the Edmonton Oilers in the playoffs, and with Ken Holland now in charge, there’s a chance that things could be changing in a big way.
Brandt Clarke’s future uncertain with the Kings
One piece that the Kings have for the future is Brandt Clarke, but this past season trade speculation followed him immensely, and with the constant scratching of the young defenseman, many believed he may want out.
Now, reporter Michael Russo has addressed the situation on the DFO Rundown, noting that this off-season, the Kings have considered moving him for the right offer.
There were points this offseason where it feel like they were even gonna consider moving Clarke; I think Ken Holland wants to get his eyes on him before he makes such a major move like that.
However, with 33 points in 78 games played as a 22-year old this past season, there’s a good chance that Holland may look to hold onto him, but if he sees an opportunity to land a veteran elsewhere, there’s always the chance that Holland looks to shake things up.
For now, Clarke is a 22-year old with an incredibly bright future as an offensive-minded defenseman, and while he may end up being a centrepiece of the Kings future, with Ken Holland in charge, anything could happen this season.
