According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth report, Florida’s Matthew Tkachuk underwent surgery a few weeks ago, and will likely miss a large part of the 2025-26 season.

Matthew Tkachuk was injured during the 4 Nations Cup in February, while representing the US; this led to him getting substantially reduced ice-time in the final against Canada, which the latter won.

Matthew was not certain initially that he would get the surgery, but clearly it was necessary and finally decided to do it.

“If I do get the surgery, it’ll definitely be the first two or maybe three months if that’s the case. But it’s still undecided at this point,” Tkachuk said.

He also missed game 1 of the 1st-round against Tampa Bay. Yet, despite his injury, Matthew still scored 23 points (8G, 15A) in the playoffs, and won his 2nd-straight Stanley Cup.

«I wouldn’t be here without the trainers and the doctors and those people,” Matthew Tkachuk said after winning the big prize,,as per NHL.com. “And that’s what makes this Cup more special for me is how hard it was just to be out there and to get to the point of playing. I owe those guys. This cup is because of them for me, and I’m so lucky…Coming down here to Florida changed my life forever. Three finals, two championships, this is more than why you play the game. This is what makes it all worth it and it’s so special. I just have so many people to thank.»

Since going to Florida, Matthew scored 88 goals and 254 points in 211 regular season games; his tenacity and aggressive style of play, including his leadership, have helped the Florida become the envy of the entire NHL.
