His tenure ended with a blockbuster trade to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2019, where he played a single season before signing with the Edmonton Oilers.It was in Edmonton that Barrie delivered his finest campaign, leading all NHL defencemen in scoring during the 2020-21 season with 48 points in 56 games.
