Since losing Marner to the Vegas Golden Knights, the Maple Leafs have been dealing with a significant hole in their offensive production. Forwards Auston Matthews and William Nylander are expected to shoulder more of the load, but they’ll need reliable support to make it work.
That’s where Roslovic becomes interesting. The center, who posted 39 points (22 goals and 17 assists) in 2024-25, represents the kind of offensive depth Toronto desperately needs. NHL Insider Frank Seravalli sees the fit too.
In the latest edition of Bleacher Report’s Insider Notebook, Seravalli mentioned, “I think the Maple Leafs are still very much in contention to get Jack Roslovic.” According to Seravalli, Roslovic’s agent, Claude Lemieux, is working hard to get a deal done before the offseason ends.
Seravalli pointed out that Lemieux recently got winger Victor Olofsson signed with the Colorado Avalanche on a one-year, $1.58 million deal. However, unlike Olofsson, who struggled in 2024-25 with just 15 goals across 56 games, Roslovic had a much more productive campaign with the Carolina Hurricanes.
The insider emphasized that Roslovic tied his career-best of 22 goals last season, making him an attractive option for the Maple Leafs. “The Toronto Maple Leafs were one of the teams that were engaged and in conversation with Roslovic,” he continued.
What Makes Jack Roslovic a Good Fit for Craig Berube’s System?
While Seravalli noted that many sources suggested this signing was essentially a done deal, with Toronto expected to announce it soon, he clarified that negotiations are ongoing and nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
Despite the lack of official confirmation, Seravalli remains confident that Roslovic would be a valuable addition to the current Maple Leafs roster. While players like Matthews, Nylander, and Matthew Knies have secured spots in the top six, head coach Craig Berube still evaluates options for the remaining forward positions.
Roslovic appears to be returning to peak form, and his playing style aligns well with the physical approach that Berube prefers. Although not the heaviest player on the ice, Roslovic’s 6’1″ frame makes him an effective presence around the net.
Even if he doesn’t crack the top six immediately, Roslovic could provide the Maple Leafs with reliable scoring depth, particularly on special teams. Industry sources have estimated his next contract will fall in the $3-4.5 million range.
