It’s time for another edition of Flyers Morning Notes. On the 8/28 version, we have a lot to talk about! Video games, rookies, and beer!
August is nearing its end, which is excellent news, as it has been a relatively slow news month. Once we get into September, hockey officially returns (in some capacity, anyway).
It’s starting to feel like Fall. College football is back, and the NFL plays a meaningful game in exactly a week, and hey, hockey is almost back. The summer has been fun, but it’s time. Hockey cannot come back soon enough.

EA Sports NHL 26 Ratings
For all my video game enthusiasts out there, some of the initial ratings have come out for NHL 26.
The Flyers’ top-10 rated players in the game go as follows:
Travis Sanheim-88, Travis Konecny-88, Matvei Michkov-88, Sean Couturier-85, Cam York-84, Owen Tippett-84, Bobby Brink-83, Noah Cates-83, Trevor Zegras-83, Nick Seeler-82.
Personally, I think the EA did it right. Michkov got his flowers, being among the highest-rated players on the team. I also believe that Zegras being an 83 is very fair. Couturier being an 85 surprised me a bit, but hey, it will make them usable in the game.
One thing that surprised me was the lack of Tyson Foerster on the list. EA teased the game by showing each team’s top 10 players. One would think Foerster would be that for the Flyers—but it seems like EA disagrees.
Check out the rest of the attributes on the Flyers’ top 10.

Karsen Dorwart Represents Flyers at NHLPA Rookie Showcase
It’s not a flashy event, but Karsen Dorwart will be the Flyers representative at the 2025 NHLPA Rookie Showcase.
For those that don’t know what that is, it’s basically each team sending a rookie or a top prospect to a photo shoot run by Upper Deck. This is where players get their official trading card photos taken.
Dorwart will represent the Flyers in 2025, following Matvei Michkov and Ivan Fedotov, who attended the event in 2024. Tyson Foerster attended the event the previous year.
Ivan Provorov and Joel Farabee are other former Flyers to attend the event.
For those wondering, why Dorwart? Well, they don’t have much as far as NHL rookies go this season. Alex Bump, who, in all honesty, would have been my pick to go to the event, is still likely a 50/50 chance to make the roster. Then, you have prospects like Oliver Bonk and Denver Barkey, who have both joined the organization but will almost certainly spend the whole season in Lehigh Valley.
I do find it interesting that Jett Luchanko was not on the list. Maybe that is some foreshadowing of his future this season.

Garnet Hathaway Releases Engine 19 IPA with Dogfish Head
Flyers forward Garnet Hathaway has been recognized for his charitable efforts off the ice, particularly through his initiative “Hath’s Heros”, which supports local first responders.
Well, Hathaway is at it again, and this time, he’s got some help from a craft brewery.
Partnered with Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Hathaway has created the “Engine 19 IPA”, which is a citrus-forward pale ale, coming in at 6.5% ABV.
Paired with Flyers Charities, a portion of the process from the collaboration will go toward supporting local first responders.
“This isn’t just a beer,” Hathaway said. “It’s a way to support the people who show up for our communities day in and day out. Bringing this to life with Dogfish Head and Flyers Charities has been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait for fans to experience it and join us in making a difference.”
The beer is expected to hit shelves in Pennsylvania and Delaware sometime in September. Flyers Charities and Dogfish Head will be hosting a celebratory tasting of the beer at PHS Beer Garden South Street on Wednesday, September 10th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
