The Chicago Blackhawks begin a three-game road trip taking on the Utah Hockey Club.
The Chicago Blackhawks hit the road and head out west for three games, starting with the Utah Hockey Club. A West Coast swing means late-night games for those living in Chicago. Tonight’s puck-drop is at 8 pm CT. Let’s see how Salt Lake City hockey is doing.
Chicago Blackhawks at Utah Hockey Club Preview
Our beloved Blackhawks are coming off of two back-to-back losses over the weekend. They’ve dropped three straight and watching them play is like watching tires spin in the mud. Head coach Anders Sorensen isn’t too thrilled either. He benched Lukas Reichel from the middle of the second period onwards in their 5-2 loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs. On Feb. 24, Colton Dach was recalled from Rockford.
At the time of this writing, I don’t have official line combinations to analyze. Will Sorensen keep the first line together? They’ve been consistently getting outworked. While I do appreciate Sorensen for keeping lines together, I believe there needs to be something done to facilitate offense from Connor Bedard.Â
When this team was in Arizona, they were on the next step of hopefully clawing their way out of mediocrity. They finished 25 points above the Blackhawks. Currently, the Utah Hockey Club sits four points out of the wild card race in the west. While I don’t expect them to make the playoffs, this is a team doing whatever they can to make it.Â
The Utah Mammoth/Outlaws/Wasabi or whatever they’ll call themselves are serious. They just took down their rivals in the Vancouver Canucks, who sit in the second wild-card spot. This is a team that’s playing for something. Utah already laid down the hate on the Blackhawks in a 5-2 game to open up the season.Â
