Hockey’s biggest prize was in Scranton Today at Marywood University.
2017 graduate mike Joyce who is the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach of the two time champion Florida Panthers took his “day” with the Cup back to his alma mater.
Joyce is a 2017 graduate of Marywood with a degree in exercise science. The Scranton native has been a coach with the Panthers since 2022.
Since 1995 the “Day with the Cup” has been a tradition of the national hockey league champion and he couldn’t have picked a better place to bring it.
Mike Joyce, Florida Panthers, Strength and Conditioning Coach says,”This place means so much to me it really does. I really did receive such a wonderful education here. From Scranton originally. I think it’s a wonderful thing that we can have such a good University here in the area, so. It seemed like the best place to bring it. “

Joyce answers, “It’s phenomenal. I’m so happy for Marywood University to have it here. This place does deserve it. I really was given such a wonderful education here. And so it really was the logical choice. And it makes me very happy to see the the outpouring of support, not just for, for me and just help celebrate the Stanley Cup, but also for the University itself. It’s a big win for us. “
Joyce started his career with the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins before getting the position in Florida.
