POTSDAM — Clarkson University announced its men’s and women’s hockey schedules for the 2025-26 season Wednesday.

The Clarkson men will begin the season Oct. 3 with a game at Canisius. The Golden Knights will debut at Cheel Arena on Oct. 24 against North Dakota as part of a two-game series.

The Clarkson women will start with two games at Merrimack on Sept. 26 and 27. The Golden Knights make their home debut Oct. 3 and 4 against Connecticut.

For head men’s coach JF Houle’s second season, the Golden Knights will participate in the Adirondack Invitational in November in Lake Placid again this season. After its debut against Canisius, Clarkson will host Western Ontario in a Sunday afternoon exhibition game Oct. 5. Clarkson then travels to play Penn State on Oct, 9 and 10 with a game at Rochester Institute of Technology the following weekend Oct. 18.

Clarkson then hosts back-to-back weekends against North Dakota and then Lake Superior State on Oct. 31 and Michigan Tech on Nov. 1.

The Golden Knights start ECAC Hockey play with games Nov. 7 and 8 at Union in the Garnet Chargers’ new rink and at Rensselaer. They return home the following week for their first home ECAC games, against Harvard and Dartmouth on Nov. 14 and 15.

Clarkson will face rival St. Lawrence University during the regular season Jan. 23, at Cheel, and Jan. 24, at Appleton Arena.

Clarkson’s Adirondack Invitational games will be against UMass Lowell and Alaska Fairbanks. The Golden Knights will also host the U.S. National U18 Development team for the second time in three years on Dec. 13.

Clarkson women’s hockey coach Matt Desrosiers will begin his 17th season with the two games at Merrimack. After playing Connecticut at Cheel, Clarkson travels to play at Providence on Oct. 17 and 18.

Clarkson opens ECAC Hockey play with a game at Union, on Oct. 24, facing former assistant Tony Maci, now the head coach for the Garnet Chargers.

The Golden Knights will face the Saints three times during the regular season, first playing their rivals Nov. 13, at 11 a.m., in the third edition of the North Country Youth Game, which has featured packed stands from school children in the region.

Clarkson then plays St. Lawrence at Appleton Arena on Dec. 4 and home against the Saints on Dec. 6.

The Golden Knights will participate in the D1 in DC Tournament in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 28 and 29, which will feature an NCAA semifinal rematch against Ohio State on Nov. 28. Clarkson plays St. Cloud State on Nov. 29.

BARNUM NAMED PLAYER OF YEAR

Clarkson graduate student Madelynn Barnum was selected the Liberty League’s Offensive Player of the Year, as well as league Midfielder of the Year, as the conference announced its end-of-the-season awards Tuesday.

Barnum won league first-team all-star mention for the fourth time in her career. She finished her collegiate career as the program record-holder in season points (91) and goals (75). She led the league in points per game, goals per game and shots per game.

Clarkson’s Rylee Ganter won league second-team mention, and Gabby Cranfield is on the third team.

St. Lawrence University senior defender Brigette Gable was named to the Liberty League second team to highlight the Saints’ selections.

SLU midfielder Neve Ley and attack Jessica LaPlaca each received third-team mention.

Gable registered 32 caused turnovers and 50 ground balls to lead the defense. She led the Liberty League with 1.88 caused turnovers and was fifth with 2.94 ground balls per game.

St. Lawrence University received six mentions on the Liberty League all-star squad, announced Tuesday.

Bobby Wells, Caleb Torres and Charlie Miele each won first-team honors. Daniel Mahoney, Padraic Condon and Michael Marinello received second-team selection.

Wells scored 25 goals and added 13 assists during the season. Torres picked up 29 ground balls and added 11 caused turnovers, along with scoring five goals. Miele paced the Saints defense with 24 caused turnovers and 42 ground balls.

Mahoney paced the Saints offense with 36 goals and 16 assists. Condon led the Saints with 210 faceoff wins and .588 faceoff percentage. He also totaled 134 groundballs. Marinello anchored the Saints with 208 saves in goal and an 8.53 goals-against average/.598 save percentage.

SZWAGULINSKI FIRST-TEAM PICK

Clarkson graduate student Matt Szwagulinski was named Liberty League first-team all-star as the conference revealed its picks Tuesday.

Szwagulinski won conference mention for the fourth time in his career. He was 10th in NCAA Division III in caused turnovers per game (2.81).

Fellow graduate student Connor Matthews was named to the second team for Clarkson. Matthews led the Golden Knights with 33 goals this season.
