It’s September, so it’s time for another edition of the PhHN Daily, and probably time for these to become consistent again.
Hockey is inching closer and closer, and action on the ice is beginning for some clubs.
Some clubs are putting the final touches on their roster, whether that be opening cap space to add more before the year begins, or making additions just to hit the cap floor.
We discuss a poll ranking every NHL team’s aggression, and even some PTO contracts for a division rival. Get it on the 9/7 edition of the PhHN Daily.

Philadelphia Flyers
Flyers X: The boys are back!
The Flyers are back at the Flyers Training Center, getting work done in the weight room and on the ice. It’s common practice for many to get some early work before camp even begins. It’s good to see the orange and black back on the ice.
Philly Hockey Now: The Guelph Storm named their captain for 2025-26, and it isn’t Jett Luchanko. In fact, he’s not mentioned in the leadership group. Could Guelph know something?
Also, how often do you see two former juniors teammates traded in a one-for-one swap? What about two OHL champions who both wore the “A” for their juniors team? Well, the Flyers and Kraken made the swap, with each team trading a 22-year-old forward.
NHL Rumors and News
Montreal Hockey Now: The Canadiens were sitting on the large salary that belongs to Carey Price. As many teams do, the Habs are able to deal his salary to the Sharks, freeing up space for Montreal, and allowing San Jose to hit the cap floor. Now, it’s up to Montreal to decide what they’ll do with the new space.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Are the Penguins… soft? Shelly Anderson dove into a recent Rotowire study and report that ranked each NHL team in on-ice aggressiveness. Pittsburgh was second to last, but in elite company.
For what it’s worth, the Flyers are exactly where you’d have expected them to be. Not necessarily at the bottom or the top, just the lower end of the middle.
New Jersey Hockey Now: With the season nearing, James Nichols writes about the four PTO contracts the Devils have inked, including a former New Jersey forward trying to extend his career.
