Montreal Canadiens
Canadiens top prospect Ivan Demidov scored a highlight-reel goal this morning at the team’s rookie camp, as he jumped on a loose puck at centre to break in and beat the goaltender through the five-hole.

Demidov made his NHL debut last season, scoring a goal with an assist in his first game against the Chicago Blackhawks. In the playoffs against the Washington Capitals, he had two assists in five games before Montreal was eliminated.
The team also announced that forward Hayden Paupanekis will miss rookie camp due to a bout of mono.
The 18-year-old was selected in the third round (69th overall) by Montreal in June’s draft. He had 22 goals and 43 points in 71 games last season in the Western Hockey League split between the Spokane Chiefs and Kelowna Rockets.
Toronto Maple Leafs
At Maple Leafs’ camp, top prospect Easton Cowan was skating on a line with Jacob Quillan and Borya Valis and was also taking one-timers from defenceman Ben Danford.
Cowan helped the London Knights capture the Memorial Cup last season. In the regular season, he had 29 goals and 69 points in 46 games. In the postseason, he had 13 goals and 39 points in 17 games, winning OHL and Memorial Cup MVP honours.
The Maple Leafs will play rookie camp games against Canadiens and Ottawa Senators this weekend.
