A former Toronto Maple Leafs player and draft pick was recently arrested and is now facing some potentially serious consequences for his actions.
A former Toronto Maple Leafs player, who was brought into the league by the organization back in the late 1990s, has had some serious allegations brought against him in the state of New York.Adam Mair, who was drafted into the NHL by the Maple Leafs, has been put on leave from his job with the Buffalo Sabres after several charges were laid against him.”Mair, 46, faces Leandra’s Law charges because three children were in the car when it allegedly rear-ended another vehicle in Pittsford, a Rochester suburb, on Sept. 4.” – WGRZ.com
Former Maple Leafs Player Adam Mair Facing Serious Charges Following Arrest
In total, Mair, who is originally from Hamilton, Ontario, is facing three felonies and three misdemeanour charges. Police allege he failed a field sobriety test, and initially refused a chemical breath test before agreeing to one and showing a blood alcohol level of 0.2 percent, which is more than twice the legal limit.

Mair was selected in the fourth round, 84th overall, by the Maple Leafs in 1997. He spent most of his time with the organization in the AHL, playing for the St. John’s Maple Leafs, but did play in both regular and post season games in the NHL before being traded to the LA Kings in 2001. After spending most of his final years in the NHL with the Buffalo Sabres, he was hired by the team and worked has worked in player development since then.
According to police records, Mair told an officer he had not had anything to drink before taking the test. He also said he took daily medication for mental health issues, but was “not currently diagnosed with anything.” Mair’s next court appearance will take place Oct. 2.
