San Jose Sharks forward Cam Lund suffered an upper-body injury during the Golden State Rookie Face-Off against the Anaheim Ducks.
Lund, who scored twice, took what appeared to be a cheap shot to the head late in the third period.

Lund didn’t return to the game. San Jose Sharks prospects head coach John McCarthy told reporters he didn’t like the hit.
Fellow Sharks top prospect Quentin Musty explained what he saw from the bench and voiced his frustration postgame as well.

“They were taking runs at our guys, and we’re going to accept that,” Musty said postgame. “I’m not happy with the way they were treating that game. We’ve got a lot of young talent here. We’re not going to take any of that, and it was nice to see guys step up that way.”
The San Jose Sharks Rookie Face-Off roster might not have a lot of time together, but they stood up for each other. That was apparent after Carson Wetsch stepped in for a fight after a big hit in the second period.
Lund’s status for Sharks camp is now in question
Lund played 11 games for the San Jose Sharks after signing out of Northeastern last season. He had two goals and one assist.
Training camp will begin next week, and it is unclear if Lund will be healthy enough at the start. The Sharks have shown they will give their top prospects every opportunity to make the NHL roster. So if Lund is injured at the beginning, it could be a significant blow to his chances of making the team.

“He’s day-to-day, so we gotta kind of see how he does, but we’ll see,” McCarthy said about Lund potentially missing the start of camp. “It is a day-to-day type thing.”
The Sharks only brought 12 forwards to the tournament, meaning the team will roll with 11 forwards and seven defensemen.
