The Buffalo Sabres have placed player developmental coach Adam Mair on administrative leave after multiple reports surfaced stating the former NHLer had been arrested on a drunk driving charge, with three children in his vehicle.
The incident occurred over a week ago, and at this time, the Sabres haven’t made any further comments. They’ve stated they are aware of the situation, have moved Mair to a leave of absence, and will continue to monitor the legal action.

According to WGRZ-TV Buffalo, the cited court records show Mair was arrested in Rochester, New York the first week of September after rear-ending another vehicle. Mair, 46, was charged with three felonies, and three misdemeanors, including aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to the report, the deputy who arrived on scene could smell a strong odor of alcohol on Mair’s breath, and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. He’d go on to fail a field sobriety test and initially refused to take a chemical breath test after he was taken into the police station.
Mair was a bottom-six forward throughout his career, playing 11 seasons in the NHL, including seven years with the Sabres. He retired after the 2011-12 season, and was hired by the Sabres in 2015.
Buffalo is scheduled to open training camp next week.
