San Jose Sharks forward Michael Misa played his first two unofficial games for the team that picked him No. 2 overall in 2025.
He finished with one goal and four assists, tying him for the lead for points in the tournament with Sharks teammates Collin Graf and Sam Dickinson.
Misa spoke to reporters after the Sharks’ 6-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday. He finished the game with one assist.
“I think overall, we played well. For not playing in a while, I thought we looked good,” Misa said. “Personally, I started off a bit slow. I thought I got more into the game by the second and third period. I thought I was playing better.”

Misa, who signed his entry-level contract last Wednesday, will be competing for a spot on the NHL roster. Training camp is set to begin on Thursday, where the San Jose Sharks’ top prospect expects the pace to be a lot faster than what he saw at the 2025 Golden State Rookie Face-Off.
“I think there are times when I try to slow the play down. Find the best next play I can make,” Misa explained. “But then there are other times where there are guys on you in split seconds, so you’ve got to make fast decisions. Overall, trying to slow the play down, [that’s] something I try to do.”
The 18-year-old might be able to take notes from second-year San Jose Sharks forward Will Smith. Smith is known for slowing plays down and creating opportunities in a timely manner.
“I’m just trying to get the puck touches. Get on the forecheck. Just feel productive in some sort of way. Get yourself involved,” Misa said. “When the puck is on my stick more, I usually tend to make plays, so that’s how I help myself.”

Smith and Misa could also compete to be the Sharks’ long-term second-line center behind Macklin Celebrini. Sharks GM Mike Grier has said that Smith will get a chance to play center at the start of this season, but Misa’s skating projects better as a center than Smith’s.
