Mark Giordano’s hockey career is seemingly over after a lack of free agent interest, and now he’s returned to the league in a new role with Toronto.
After a fantastic run with the Calgary Flames, Seattle Kraken and Toronto Maple Leafs, Mark Giordano’s hockey career has seemingly come to an end, despite no official announcement of his retirement.
Toronto Maple Leafs Officially Hire Mark Giordano
This comes after Giordano was spotted behind the Maple Leafs bench during recent prospects game, with many believing that he’s taking on a coaching role with the team, and given his experience at the NHL level, there’s very few former players better suited for a role than Gio.
It appears as though GM Brad Treliving is set to finalize a few more roles around the Marlies before making the Giordano hiring official, but given the connection those two have through the Calgary Flames, it’s no surprise that Gio wants a role within this organization.
Only time will tell how high within the coaching ranks Giordano can climb in Toronto, but given his leadership, his experience and the knowledge he can impart on the future Maple Leafs, this is nothing but a great hire for the Maple Leafs.
