Mason McTavish has had long drawn out contract negotiations with the Anaheim Ducks, and while trade rumors have swirled, Anaheim has no interest in a trade.
With the NHL season approaching rapidly, the clock is running out for Anaheim and McTavish to get something done.
Anaheim Not Entertaining Trades
During the latest episode of 32 Thoughts, respected insider Elliotte Friedman provided fans with an update on the status of Mason McTavish, who currently remains an unsigned restricted free agent after not signing a new contract with the Ducks this summer.
Elliotte Friedman: Re Mason McTavish: Teams have called; Verbeek has told everybody to get lost, he’s not interested in doing that – 32 Thoughts Podcast
McTavish has been the talk of the town lately, as rumors surrounding his ongoing contract negotiations with Anaheim continue to swirl. Being unsigned as training camps have kicked off has sparked many trade rumors, with some suggesting that the only solution here is for Anaheim to find a new home for the young forward.
With the season fast approaching, and the ducks without one of their bright young stars, the pressure is starting to mount against Pat Verbeek to find an end to this saga.
MacTavish Preparing For Season on His Own
While he remains unsigned, McTavish hasn’t stopped his preparations for the upcoming season.
It was recently reported that the young forward has been training with the Ottawa 67’s of the OHL in an attempt to prepare himself for the NHL season on his own. Due to not having a contract at the moment, NHL rules forbid McTavish from joining the Ducks for training in any capacity, regardless of the team owning his rights.
How much longer will this contract dispute last? Will McTavish end up getting traded in the end? We’ll have it for you once we learn more.
