San Jose Sharks forwards Cam Lund and Macklin Celebrini have returned to the ice before the team’s first preseason game.

Neither Celebrini nor Lund will play, but it is encouraging that both players are back on the ice.

Celebrini skated with Sharks skill coach Mike Ricci and San Jose Barracuda forward Donovan Houle before the official training camp skate. Celebrini had been sent home after the first day of camp due to an illness. Although head coach Ryan Warsofsky said he was feeling better on Saturday, he didn’t skate.

Celebrini hasn’t met with the media at any point during training camp. Once he returns to the main camp in full, he can be made available.

The Sharks center skated on a line with Will Smith and Jeff Skinner on the first day.

Cam Lund suffered an upper-body injury during the San Jose Sharks’ first game of the Golden State Rookie Face-Off.

The winger was deemed day-to-day by San Jose Barracuda coach John McCarthy. Warsofsky echoed the same timeline after the first day of camp.

Unlike Celebrini, Lund took part with the San Jose Sharks’ first group, consisting of players who would not be in the lineup against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Lund appears to have avoided a significant setback in his attempt to make the opening night roster. The winger joined the team after his season at Northeastern University concluded. He had two goals and one assist in 11 games.
