Young forward Ivan Demidov answered questions from reporters yesterday at noon, for the very first time in a while.

It was really good to hear him speak in front of the media, as he’s becoming more and more comfortable.

First steps on the power play for the Montreal Canadiens

Yesterday morning, the Montreal Canadiens held their first power-play drills and, clearly, it was not to the young Demidov’s liking.

You can see how much of a perfectionist he is, and how big his vision is for the Canadiens’ five-man attack.

Ivan Demidov wasn’t satisfied with the first power play reps at camp.

Nothing specific to improve, just a matter of timing. “We can be better.”

This is a statement coming from a young player striving for perfection, and that’s very positive.

It also explains why there were a few signs of frustration shown by some players on the power play (yesterday morning in Brossard).

Rest assured that Demidov will do everything he can to make sure the power play is ready, just in time for the first game of the season in about two weeks.

I love seeing Demidov not afraid to say things as they are in front of the media.

Reporter:
“Did it give you any sense of how you can perform when you came to the NHL (after watching Matvei Michkov last season?)”

Ivan Demidov: “I play my game. He plays his game. We’re different.”

Once again, a very good answer!

The Montreal Canadiens’ 2025 training camp continues today, including their first official preseason game!
