The future of Kirill Kaprizov continues to dominate discussions in Minnesota, and one analyst has outlined how the Chicago Blackhawks could make a blockbuster move for the star winger.

Kaprizov is entering the final year of his five-year, $45 million deal after reportedly rejecting an eight-year, $128 million extension earlier this month.

With his long-term future uncertain, Bleacher Report’s Hannah Stuart suggested a scenario where the Blackhawks acquire the Minnesota Wild’s 28-year-old forward to pair him with Connor Bedard.

Stuart’s proposed deal would send Teuvo Teravainen, Oliver Moore and either a first- or second-round pick to the Wild. In return, Chicago would add an elite scorer to its top line, giving Bedard the most skilled teammate of his young career.

Kaprizov posted 25 goals and 31 assists for 56 points in 41 games last season, and remains the Wild’s most dynamic offensive player.

Bedard, meanwhile, is coming off a 67-point season in his second year with Chicago, playing all 82 regular-season games and improving both his goals and assists marks from the 2023-24 rookie season in which he won the Calder Trophy despite missing 14 games.

“Landing in Chicago would put Kaprizov in the mix with Connor Bedard and would give a much-needed boost to the Blackhawks’ attempts to climb out of the depths of despair they’ve been stuck in,” Stuart wrote. “Going back the other way, you have to think that Guerin would insist on a high-value prospect at the very least, and the speedy and talented Oliver Moore came up right in his backyard at the University of Minnesota.”

Stuart added that Teravainen could help the Wild in the present, while Moore offers long-term potential.

Teravainen, 31, scored 58 points last season while playing just over 17 minutes per game. Moore, 20, was the Blackhawks’ first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft and just debuted last season, appearing in nine games, scoring four points.

Stuart also noted the pick compensation from Chicago’s side could vary, saying that while Kaprizov’s talent suggests a first-rounder should be included, NHL trade dynamics often make a second-round pick more realistic.

“I waffled whether the pick in this deal would be a 2026 1st or whether it would be a second-rounder,” Stuart wrote. “The dream scenario is the first-round pick, and for Kaprizov’s talent, you’d think it should be, right? But the way things work in the NHL, it would probably end up being a second-round pick.”
