The St. Louis Blues leveraged a three-goal second period en route to a 5-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday afternoon.
Tyler Tucker, Brayden Schenn and Justin Faulk scored for the Blues in the second period to turn a 1-1 scoreline into a 4-1 lead for the home team. The goals came in an 8:08 span.
Robert Thomas scored for the Blues in the third period to finish the scoring.
St Louis hasn’t lost a home game in regulation since early February. They are 14 -0-0 in that span. Their last regulation loss came to the Florida Panthers prior to the 4 Nations break. Winnipeg was outscored 12-3 in Games 3 and 4.
“Obviously, they’re a dominant team at home,” Jets defenceman Luke Schenn told reporters in St.Louis. “There’s no question about that. When you’re up 2-0 in the series… maybe we sat back and thought we’d defend that a little bit. You’ve got to keep pushing, keep pushing. It’s a best of three now. We’ve got a great crowd at home and we’ve got to clean up some things and move on to the next one.”
