The Carolina Hurricanes bring a 1-0 series lead into Tuesday’s best-of-seven matchup with the New Jersey Devils.

In the regular season, the Hurricanes finished second in the Metropolitan Division with 99 points. The team was 47-30-5. The Devils finished third in the same division with a record of 42-33-7, giving them 91 points.

Game 1 saw the Hurricanes come in hot and get a 4-1 win to open the series. Just 2:24 into the game, Jalen Chatfield scored to put Carolina in front.

In the second period, Carolina’s Loga Stankoven scored a pair of goals, briefly putting his team up 3-0 before the Devils finally got on the board just before the end of the period, with Nico Hischier scoring.

Carolina added a late insurance goal, with Andrei Svechnikov scoring just over two minutes left to play in the game.
