Following a sloppy preseason opener in Detroit, the Chicago Blackhawks made their first round of training camp roster cuts on Wednesday morning.

Nathan Behm (Kamloops, WHL), Parker Holmes (Brantford, OHL), Jack Pridham (Kitchener, OHL), and Marek Vanacker (Brantford, OHL) have all been reassigned to their respective junior clubs.

Both Pridham and Vanacker were in the lineup for the Blackhawks against the Red Wings on Tuesday, and they skated together on the team’s fourth line. Pridham and Vanacker are expected to be among the top players in the Ontario Hockey League this season. Kitchener and Brantford are also two of the best teams in the league.

Behm and Holmes were scratched during the team’s first preseason game last night. Considering how sharp Behm looked at the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase and through the first few days of camp, I was surprised he wasn’t in the lineup. Holmes didn’t make much of an impact during his first rookie/training camp with the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks training camp roster is now down to 49 players, including 26 forwards, 17 defensemen, and six goaltenders.
