Chicago Hockey Now: There was plenty of pace and energy out of the gate for the Blackhawks in their preseason opener, but fatigue and sloppy play quickly took over in the second half. More CHN: Wyatt Kaiser was one of the two goal scorers for the Blackhawks last night in Detroit. ICYMI, Kaiser and the Blackhawks agreed to a two-year contract extension one week ago from today.
Stay hot, Roman! Blackhawks 2023 2nd-round pick Roman Kantserov continued his red-hot play on Tuesday. Kantserov tallied the primary assist on Metallurg Magnitogorsk’s game-winning goal, which now gives him seven points (3G, 4A) over his past six games. Metallurg is also 4-0-2 during that six-game stretch.
Blackhawks 2025 third overall pick Anton Frondell also registered a primary assist on Tuesday. Unfortunately, Djurgarden was blown out 11-2 by Frolunda, but Frondell managed to have a decent outing. In addition to his assist, Frondell won seven of 15 faceoffs and tallied three shots on goal in 16:42 of ice time. The big Swede now has two points through his first four SHL games.

The Athletic: Following a productive postseason, the Oilers announced on Tuesday that they signed Vasily Podkolzin to a three-year contract extension, which carries a $2.95 million cap hit. The deal kicks in at the start of the 2026-27 season.
TSN: Jonathan Toews made his preseason debut with the Winnipeg Jets last night, and the three-time Stanley Cup champion had the “A” on his sweater. Toews failed to record a shot on goal and won 11 of 20 faceoffs in the Jets’ 3-2 loss.
NHLdotcom: Predators 2025 first-round pick Brady Martin provided all the offense in the team’s 3-2 loss to Tampa Bay. Martin scored two goals in his preseason debut, while also adding three hits.
San Jose Hockey Now: After missing the previous three days of training camp due to an illness, the Mack is back. Macklin Celebrini returned to practice on Tuesday and centered a line with Will Smith and Jeff Skinner. The 2024 No. 1 overall pick also spoke with the media for the first time this season.
