The Red Wings picked up their second preseason win last night with a 5-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres. The Red Wings got goals from Mason Appleton, Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, Andrew Copp, Dylan Larkin, and Moritz Seider. Cam Talbot got the start between the pipes, stopping six of the eight shots he faced. Michal Postava stopped all ten shots he faced.

Pittsburgh Penguins News & Notes:

The Penguins suffered a 4-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets last time out. Their lone goal came from Zach Gallant. Arturs Silovs stopped 12 of the 14 shots he faced, while Filip Larsson stopped eight of the nine shots he faced.

Carter Bear was the Red Wings’ first-round pick in this past draft. In 56 games in the Western Hockey League with the Everett Silvertips. He recorded 82 points on 40 goals and 42 assists. He was a +33 with 14 power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, and nine game-winning goals.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Sam Poulin played in seven games for the Penguins last season, recording an assist, and finished as a plus-one. In 57 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the AHL. He had 43 points on 19 goals and 24 assists. He was a plus-five with two power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, and three game-winning goals.
