The NHL season is just about here, which is undoubtedly exciting news for hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHL Trade Rumors will be starting a series looking at each team’s best addition and worst subtraction of the 2025 NHL off-season.
In this latest edition of the series, we will be taking a look at the New York Rangers.Â
Best Addition: Vladislav GavrikovÂ
The Rangers’ top addition of this summer was defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov. The Rangers signed the left-shot defenseman to a seven-year, $49 million contract in free agency. When noting that he is a steady top-pairing defenseman who provides a bit of everything, he should be a big part of the Rangers’ blueline from here.Â
Worst Subtraction: Chris KreiderÂ
The Rangers traded Chris Kreider to the Anaheim Ducks this offseason, and he is a player who they could miss tremendously if he bounces back with his new team. The Massachusetts native was a massive part of the Rangers’ throughout his time in New York, as he not only provided good offense but also plenty of grit.Â
