Former Detroit Red Wings (2023-24) goaltender James Reimer seems to be the Toronto Maple Leafs’ choice to serve as Joseph Woll’s placeholder during his leave of absence.

Reimer has joined the Maple Leafs on a PTO agreement.  Reimer played for the Buffalo Sabres and Anaheim Ducks with most of playing time coming with Buffalo (10-8-2, 2.85, .901).

Woll is gone indefinitely because he is dealing with a family matter. Bringing in Reimer on a PTO provides the Maple Leafs flexibility with no impact on their salary cap position unless Woll’s absence stretches into the season.

Reimer started his career with the Maple Leafs in 2010-11.e

Former Red Wings player Robby Fabbri had the game-winning goal against his former team in the Pittsburgh Penguins’ 3-2 win against Detroit. Fabbri is in Pittsburgh’s training camp on a PTO agreement. It sure seems like Fabbri would be a good fit for the Penguins.
