COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets will take the ice with a nearly full NHL lineup against the Washington Capitals for their final home preseason game Tuesday after reducing their roster to 25 players.

Blue Jackets General Manager Don Waddell announced the team will be sending Luca Del Bel Belluz, James Malatesta, Max McCue, Luca Pinelli, Jack Williams, Corson Ceulemans, Stanislav Svozil and Nolan Lalonde to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters.
Hudson Fasching, Brendan Gaunce and Mikael Pyyhtia were all waived and sent to the Monsters as well.
Oiva Keskinen was assigned to Tappara, a Finnish Hockey League team, and Brendan Smith was released from his professional tryout contract.
Head Coach Dean Eavson told media that defenseman Denton Materychuk, who missed the start of training camp with a groin injury, will make his preseason debut.
The Blue Jackets follow up this contest with another against the Capitals Saturday night in Washington, D.C. for their final preseason game before their season opener Oct. 9 at the Nashville Predators.
The Jackets have a 2-3-0 record so far this preseason.
