Leonard was put on waivers by Detroit on Wednesday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Leonard had 36 goals and 61 points in 72 regular-season outings with AHL Charlotte in 2024-25. Although the 27-year-old is effective in the minors, he’s unlikely to spend much time, if any, in the NHL this year. Leonard is expected to report to AHL Grand Rapids if he clears waivers.
