1. Trump administration reverses cuts to N.Y. counterterrorism operations
The Trump administration has reversed $187 million in cuts to New York’s counterterrorism operations, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Friday. The reversal comes after New York and other states sued the federal government, arguing the cuts would leave the city vulnerable to attacks.
2. Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, Peace Bridge reopen to Canada-bound commercial traffic
According to the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission, travel warnings have been lifted for Canada-bound commercial traffic at the Lewiston-Queenston International Bridge. The Peace Bridge has also reopened to all Canada-bound commercial carriers, the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority said.
3. Sabres part ways with development coach Adam Mair after drunk-driving arrest
The Buffalo Sabres have parted ways with player developmental coach Adam Mair following his September arrest for allegedly driving drunk with three children in his car.
4. Sabres starting goalie Luukkonen expected to miss season opener with lower-body injury
Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff anticipated opening the season next week without starting goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who suffered a lower-body injury in his preseason debut.
5. Buffalo News to discontinue printed editions on Mondays
The Buffalo News is ending its printed edition on Mondays. Starting the week of Nov. 3, the paper will only be printed Tuesday through Sunday.
6. Local lawmakers push to establish Scajaquada Heritage Corridor
Local lawmakers are making a push to establish the Scajaquada Heritage Corridor. The corridor played a role in the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the end of the Erie Canal, the War of 1812 and the Underground Railroad.

New York places statewide burn ban in effect due to ongoing drought conditions
The state Department of Environmental Conservation says the burn ban prohibits outdoor fires for burning brush or debris, as well as all uncontained fires, including campfires and open fires used for cooking. Backyard fire pits and contained campfires less than three feet in height and four feet in length, width or diameter are allowed, as are small, contained cooking fires, according to the DEC. Burning garbage or leaves is already prohibited year-round in New York.
