In less than 72 hours, the Vancouver Canucks, and the rest of the league’s 31 franchises, will need to submit their opening night rosters to the NHL and Patrik Allvin is still working through some difficult decisions he’ll need to make before Monday afternoon. On Saturday, Allvin made a few more cuts to the team’s training camp roster in anticipation of the opening night roster submission deadline, as mentioned, on Monday at 2 p.m. PT.

In a social media post, the Vancouver Canucks announced that forward Nils Aman – who cleared waivers on Saturday morning, along with goaltender Nikita Tolopilo have been assigned to the American Hockey League’s Abbotsford Canucks for the start of the 2025-26 season.
“General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that G Nikita Tolopilo and F Nils Ã…man have been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL), and F Nils Höglander has been placed on injured reserve.” the Canucks said on X.
Tolopilo, 25, had a good season with Abbotsford in 2024-25, appearing in 36 games where he had a 20-14-2 record, a 2.66 goals against average, a .902 save percentage and four shutouts.
Meanwhile for Nils Aman, he’s coming off the best year of his professional hockey career in terms of offensive production, registering 30 points (seven goals, 23 assists) in just 36 games for Abbotsford.
Vancouver now has three cuts to make before Monday at 2 p.m. PT and it’s going to be very interesting to see what Patrik Allvin & Co. decide to do, including whether 2025 first round pick Braeden Cootes makes the opening night roster or if he’ll be sent back to the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds.
